Freshman Jacob Mason has four goals this season.

The ENC men’s soccer team lost, 6-1, to both Gordon on Sept. 28 and Roger Williams on Oct. 5, upping their losing streak to five games.

Gordon, 10-1 (3-1),  is tied for first place in the conference.

Freshman Jacob Mason (Middletown, R.I.) scored ENC’s only goal of the Gordon game on a penalty kick in the second half. It was Mason’s fourth goal, and second on a penalty kick, of the season.

Junior captain Jake Johnson (Mount Bethel, Pa.) stopped seven shots in net for the Lions.

The Lions lost their fifth straight on Oct. 5 to the Hawks of Roger Williams.

Scott Hansen (Middletown Spring, Vt.) scored his third goal of the season in the 33rd minute.

The Hawks answered with six straight goals, including five goals in a span of about 13 minutes.

Despite the losses, Johnson remains positive.

“As a team we’ve played a lot of close matches, but we’ve played together well and we have fought as a team even though the results are not in our favor,” Johnson said.

The team’s next home game is against Mitchell College at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
