A thick smoke from a 21-acre two-alarm brush fire in the Blue Hills Reservation in Quincy plagued the Eastern Nazarene College campus last night.
The fire, in the Chickatawbut Road area of the reservation, began on Sunday night and was reported around 6 a.m. on Monday morning. The Chickatawbut area is about five miles from ENC’s campus.
The Department of Conservation and Recreation warned motorists that the lingering smoke may affect the morning commute around the Blue Hills Reservation.
In a traffic advisory, DCR officials said, “some smoke will continue until the predicted rain on Thursday evening and Friday.”
The brush fire has been contained.
