As the semester is winding down, there is one last week of school that students absolutely dread: finals week.

I can already feel the stress and tiredness from late-night study sessions. It is the week where every student is in work mode…or procrastination mode. However, there are a few tips that can help you prepare for final exams.

Organization and balancing your time is essential. Knowing what to study and for how long is important so you can allot time for other subjects. This will help you to be less stressed and feel more in control of your studies.

Since you’ll be cooped up in your room or the library for much of the day, make sure to take breaks. You don’t want your mind to be too overloaded, so take a walk or get a snack. Let yourself breathe so your mind can settle. Lengthy breaks actually help your mind recharge itself, so when you get back to studying, you will be more focused and attentive.

I know that when students study they always stay up until 2 or 3 in the morning, but getting a good night’s sleep is also key. Set a time for when you can get a good amount of sleep so your body and mind can be ready to take on the next day of hard work. The last thing you want is to feel overtired while studying or taking the exam. If you are sleep-deprived, you won’t be working to your fullest potential.

Exams can be overwhelming, but with these tips you’ll be all set to take on finals week.
