ENC shuttles have been providing students with transportation to Quincy’s new South Shore YMCA for three weeks now.

The buses have been running since Jan. 27, with an average of 20 students using the shuttle service each day.

Vice President for Student Development Jeff Kirksey, former vice president Vern Wesley, Student Development Administrative Assistant Cheryl Stone, junior Widly Bazelais, and senior Brenna Campbell all coordinated the shuttle buses and schedules.

Monday through Friday, the shuttles leave ENC every hour starting at 4 p.m. and ending at 9 p.m. Shuttles leave the YMCA every hour on the 15 minute mark until closing at 10 p.m.

On Saturdays, shuttle services start at 2 p.m. and run until closing at 8 p.m.

Sunday shuttle services also start at 2 p.m. and run until closing at 6 p.m.

“We wanted to do it consistently so it was easy for students to remember,” Kirksey said.

“It’s a great way for students to get to the Y if they don’t have a car. Also they seem to really enjoy being able to go,” junior Lisabeth Almedia, a shuttle driver, said.

The shuttles are operating during the times found most convenient for students, Kirksey said.

“The shuttle system is really convenient, especially for my schedule,” junior Victoria Lu, a shuttle bus passenger, said.

Upon request, the shuttle bus also drives to the Wollaston T stop after leaving the YMCA.

Students with questions should contact the Student Development Office.
