The school-wide fundraiser, Pie-in-the-Face, took place at the men’s basketball game against Gordon on January 25 to benefit the ENC’s Fusion teams.
Throughout the week leading up the big game, students had the opportunity to put money in jars with the picture of either Professor William McCoy or Chaplain Montague Williams on it. The professor’s jar with the most money would get a pie smashed in their face.
As half-time approached, the money was counted and the winner was Professor McCoy.
Senior Dan Compitiello announced that whoever bid the most money would have the honor of giving McCoy the pie in the face. Having donated $40, it was Williams that would have pied Professor McCoy but he elected to allow a student to conduct the deed.
Yahalael Carter, the student picked, did not hesitate to take charge and get the job done. As of the night of the Pie-in-the-Face, a total of $230.02 was raised for the trip.
“We raised close to $500 last week between the Pie-in-the-Face Fundraiser and the ongoing fundraiser in the school store,” said senior Ciara McMahon.
The fundraiser in the school store works as a tip jar for people to drop in any of their spare change. “We also sometimes have a silly poll question that people may vote on using their change,” McMahon said.
With spring break quickly approaching, keep an eye out for other fundraisers to help with each team.
