The ENC campus community welcomed Dan Boone in a commissioning ceremony on Friday, October 13. In May, the school bid former President Corlis McGee farewell and explored the possibility of having President of Trevecca Nazarene University Dan Boone serve as president-elect of Eastern Nazarene College.

Dr. Boone stressed president-elect as the proper term to describe his position. This merits distinguishing from “president” because the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools – Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the organization from which TNU receives accreditation, will vote in early December to decide if they will allow Dr. Boone the right to simultaneously serve as the president of two separate institutions.

The ceremony was held in advance because ENC is confident that SACSCOC will do so. In the unlikely event that the accrediting board for Trevecca fails to cooperate, adjustments to his position will need to be made.

Dr. Boone is expected to serve the ENC community in his capacity as president under the Board of Trustees. Official responsibilities of his position will include traditional administrative and faculty oversight, donor outreach, and an emphasis on facility expansion and improvements. All of this is to be accomplished by working in tandem with ENC’s Provost and Chief Operating Officer, Timothy Wooster, who remains optimistic throughout this time of change and transition to the next chapter of ENC’s history.

Dr. Boone first orders of business are to improve the financial stability and sustainability of ENC and to increase the enrollment of students at ENC.

Despite receiving no official salary from ENC and being unfamiliar with the inner workings of our institution up to this point, Dr. Boone projects a confident air. He has kindly done his best to make time for the students and faculty, and wishes to make himself available and welcoming for any who wish to connect with him

Dr. Boone is available for any questions or comments at any time, and, in fact, welcomes them. Anyone interested in contacting Dr. Dan Boone may write to him at Dboone@trevecca.edu.
