The Veritas-Nautilus Organization has officially begun the hiring season for deputy positions on its staff during the 2018-2019 academic year. The deputy staff includes the following positions: the Head of Design, the Head of Photography, and two Associate Editors. The hiring process for these positions starts with the completion of an online application form by qualified students, and the deadline to apply is May 5.

The Head of Design role includes the responsibility for assisting with the layout and design of all student publications (the Nautilus yearbook and the Veritas News). This position requires knowledge of operation in Adobe design platforms, and creating aesthetically pleasing, user-friendly, online platforms for both publications.

The role of Head of Photography is responsible for photography featured in both publications. This individual also coordinates a team of photographers to ensure that major campus events are being photographed for the purposes of the yearbook and the student newspaper.

Each Associate Editor holds the responsibility of ensuring the quality of all written content for both publications. While the bulk of an Associate Editor’s work will be for the Veritas News, this position also requires editing of written portions of the Nautilus publication. This position requires strong editing and writing skills, as well as an overall awareness of newsworthy issues on campus.

During the 2017-2018 academic year, senior Kenzie Blake served as Head of Design, sophomore Joey Fortin served as Head of Photography, and juniors Becky Hay and Kelee Prince served as Associate Editors. Because the Veritas-Nautilus senior staff hires applicants to serve in their respective positions on a year-by-year basis, qualified students may apply for any of the four available positions on the deputy staff.
