The peace agreement between Hamas and Israel could be at risk, after the United States informed the guarantor countries of the peace agreement in Gaza about ‘credible reports’ of an imminent violation of the ceasefire against the population in the Strip.
According to a US State Department publication, the planned attack on Palestinian civilians would constitute a ‘direct and serious violation of the ceasefire agreement that would undermine progress achieved through mediation.’
The guarantors (Qatar, Egypt and Türkiye) demand that Hamas fulfill its obligations under the terms of the ceasefire, the published text indicates.

Likewise, the State Department warned that if Hamas proceeds with the attack, they will take measures to protect the population of Gaza and preserve the peace agreement, although they did not specify what type of measures.
Finally, they assured that the United States and the other countries involved in the agreement remain committed to guaranteeing the safety of civilians and continuing to promote peace and prosperity in the region.
