From April 6th, the Cascais railway line will suffer restrictions on circulation due to an intervention on the Caxias-Cascais section, included in the modernization work underway on that line, Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) reported today.
In a statement, the company says that the intervention area of the contract to modernize the track and catenary of the Cascais Line, in the district of Lisbon, will be expanded from April 6th to the Caxias-Cascais section.
The new phase of the work continues several actions aimed at modernizing the infrastructure across the Cascais Line, which include replacing the current electrification system and renewing the railway track.
The works also include the installation of new signaling and speed control systems and the modernization of operational support equipment.
Due to the intervention, circulation will be restricted on weekdays between 9:50 pm and 2:35 am the following day, on Saturdays between 8:50 pm and 2:35 am the following day and on Sundays between 5:30 am and 8:40 am and between 7:50 pm and 2:35 am the following day.
“During periods of total traffic closure, road transfer services will be provided, in order to mitigate impacts on the mobility of rail service users on the Cascais Line”indica a IP.
The railway line connects the municipalities of Lisbon, Oeiras and Cascais.
