Gas explosion leaves one dead and two buildings collapse in Istanbul

ISTANBUL, Turkey.— This Sunday, a natural gas explosion in it Fatih districtin the center of Istanbulwhich caused the death of a person and the collapse of two buildings.

Search and rescue personnel pulled 10 injured people from the rubble, one in critical condition, according to a statement from the Istanbul government.

The governor of Istanbul, Davut Gulvisited the site of the explosion, which occurred at noon, and visited the injured in a local hospital.

A natural gas explosion occurred in the Fatih district of central Istanbul, causing two buildings to collapse on Sunday.

Search and rescue personnel were immediately sent to the site of the explosion, which occurred at noon, and determined that nine people were trapped under the rubble.

The governor of Istanbul, Davut Gul, reported that they had rescued seven people, who are already receiving medical attention in nearby hospitals. State news channel TRT said an eighth person was also rescued and taken to hospital. Rescue efforts continue to find the last person.
