Noelia Castillo Ramos receives euthanasia, these were her last moments

Noelia Castillo Ramos, the 25-year-old Spanish girl, received euthanasia this Thursday, March 26 after a 20-month legal battle to receive the procedure.

Noelia’s case caused a stir after she jumped from a fifth floor on October 4, 2022 after being a victim of multiple sexual assault and became a paraplegic due to an irreversible spinal cord injury after the suicide attempt.

The young woman requested euthanasia from the Guarantee and Evaluation Commission of Catalonia (CGAC) on April 10, 2024 because the pain did not allow her to lead a full life, “I don’t feel like doing anything, not going out, not eating, not doing anything, so I don’t eat. Years of legal proceedings

On July 18, 2022, the CGAC accepted the request, however, Noelia’s father together with the Christian Lawyers association delayed the process for years through amparos and it was not until January 21, 2026 when the Supreme Court rejected the appeals of the father’s lawyers.

Finally, the European Court of Human Rights approved that the procedure be carried out on March 24, 2026 and allowed Noelia to say goodbye to her relatives to perform the euthanasia this Thursday, March 26.

During the process she was accompanied by her mother while waiting, despite not completely agreeing with the decision; however, Noelia asked to be alone during the injection.
