He had announced it: Cyprien Fohr, the midday master of 12 coups de midi, left on his own initiative, this Sunday, April 19, the show presented daily by Jean-Luc Reichmann on TF1.
What to remember:
- Cyprien Fohr, 22, voluntarily left the show “Les 12 coups de midi” on TF1 this Sunday, after seven months of competition, in order to devote himself to his conducting studies at the Paris Conservatory.
- The musicology student ends his career in historic third place in the game with 212 participations. He leaves with a total prize pool of 861,337 euros in winnings and gifts, before a concert scheduled for July 3.
- After this rare abandonment in the history of the program, Cyprien is replaced by Francine, a 78-year-old candidate. The young man received a tribute in song from Zette, the show’s voice-over, when he left.
Although undefeated in seven months of play, Cyprien Fohr, 22, chose to leave on Sunday The 12 strokes of noon on TF1 to return to his studies in music, after having “teased fate”, he told AFP.
This is the second time since its launch in 2010 that a player has voluntarily left the program hosted by Jean-Luc Reichmann, where candidates must answer general knowledge questions.
Zette’s tributes, the voiceover
“I always knew what I wanted to do: classical music, becoming a conductor,” so quitting the game is “the solution most faithful to my principles”, he explains after this surprise announcement ten days ago.
Under the eyes of his mother, he was very moved by the tributes prepared for this occasion, in particular that of Zette, the “voice-over” of the show. The latter came on set to sing him a song. And to greet “a great guy, with us for more than six months. A host of acquaintances, he’s Cyprien. A conductor in bloom, who orchestrates hearts, he’s Cyprien. And it’s magnificent. A sumptuous artist, whom we love and wish him happy”, she declared, as relay Voici “I have a lot of affection for you”she admitted to him, pushing Jean-Luc Reichmann to say that he had “rarely seen” his friend “like that”.
More than 816,000 euros won
At the end of his 212th show on Sunday, he pocketed 861,337 euros in winnings, in money and gifts. What will the young man do with it? “I’m going to take the time to think”wisely says this master’s student in musicology at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris. He will only be able to take the vacation that was offered to him after a concert scheduled for July 3 with the L’Isle Joyeuse ensemble.
Cyprien assures that he has a light heart. “It’s a show that I watched when I was 7 or 8 years old. One evening, I said to myself that it would be fun to try my luck,” he relates. And “I was very lucky.”
His participation was unexpected: “I made a replacement” car “a place had just become available and I was available the next day”. Then “I went from surprise to surprise”, recounts the one who claims to have played on set rather “in dilettante.” A dilettante who reached third place in the ranking of players having participated in the greatest number of editions of the 12 strokes of noon.
Cyprien assures that his own practice as a musician has helped him not to stress too much: “It’s an ethic of concentration and overcoming stage fright.” The twenty-year-old has more than one string to his bow. He writes poetry and hopes to write a novel.
Who succeeds him?
Cyprien having announced his abandonment before the final face-to-face, it was a woman, Francine, who automatically took over. Francine, 78 years old, winner of the baccalaureate at the age of 60.
At the start of the show, Zette presented her as a daring woman, great-grandmother, five times grandmother… and newlywed, since she married her lifelong partner (36 years, to be precise) only a year and a half ago, rewind our colleagues from Télé-Loisirs.
