The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahuannounced that he will convene his government this Thursday to ratify the peace plan agreement for Gaza signed with Hamas in Egypt and thanked the American president, Donald Trumphis commitment to free the hostages in the Palestinian Strip.
“A great day for Israel. Tomorrow I will convene the government to ratify the agreement and bring home all our precious hostages,” Netanyahu said in a statement distributed by his office in the early hours of Thursday, shortly after Trump announced the signing of the agreement.
Sources in Netanyahu’s office clarified that “tomorrow” means Thursday, even though the message arrived in the early hours of Thursday itself.
“I wholeheartedly thank President Trump and his team for their commitment with this sacred mission of freeing our hostages,” he added in the message, in which he also thanked the “courage and sacrifice” of the Israeli soldiers and security forces.
And he concluded: “God willing, together we will continue to achieve all our objectives and expand peace with our neighbors.”
The Prime Minister’s Office also reported that Netanyahu spoke with Trump in a “very emotional and cordial” conversation and that they “congratulated each other on the historic achievement” of signing the first phase of this agreement.
Besides, The Israeli president invited Trump to address the Knessetthe parliament of Israel.
Trump posted on his social media that the two sides have signed the first phase of the peace plan for Gaza, which implies that “ALL hostages will be released very soon and that Israel will withdraw its troops to an agreed line as the first steps towards a strong, lasting and eternal peace.”
