The family of Isak Andic, founder of the fashion brand Mango, stated he had “complete confidence” in Jonathan Andic’s innocenceson of the businessman, who is being formally investigated in Spain byfather’s death, which occurred in December last year, following a fall from a cliff. The incident happened on the Montserrat mountain, outside Barcelona, when Jonathan and Isak were alone.

Suspicions of homicide and contradictions in testimonies

The investigation into the Isak Andic’s death, initially treated as a tragic accident during a family walk, took on a new twist. According to the Catalan newspaper “La Vanguardia”, the judge responsible for the case decided, in September, open a formal investigationfor murder against Jonathan Andic, after identifying alleged contradictions in the statements he made as a witness.

The Spanish authorities, namely the Mossos d’Esquadra, they are analyzing Jonathan’s cell phone in search of possible evidence that could clarify the circumstances of the death of the founder of Mango. Despite this, and according to the same newspaper, after ten months of investigation, no conclusive elements were found linking the son to the alleged crime.

Fatal hike in Montserrat

Andic sobbed died on December 14, 2024, after falling from a height of more than one hundred meters in the caves of Montserrata popular spot among day-trippers. At the time, police classified the incident as an accident, as the terrain was not considered particularly dangerous and there were no direct witnesses other than Jonathan, who accompanied his father.

The case was provisionally archived, but was reopened when doubts arose about the coherence of the statements and the chronology of the events that day. The absence of witnesses and the isolated nature of the location, however, complicate the authorities’ work.

Testimonies that changed the direction of the investigation

According to the Spanish newspaper “El País”, two testimonies were decisive to reorient the investigation: that of Jonathan Andic and that of Estefanía Knuth, Isak Andic’s partner and former professional golfer. Jonathan was interrogated on at least two occasions — first, shortly after his father’s death, when he was visibly shaken, and later, with greater clarity and emotional distance. His subsequent statements, however, did not coincide with his initial statements, nor with the data collected at the crash site.

O Estefanía Knuth’s testimony also revealed that the relationship between father and son had deteriorated in the months before the businessman’s death, which raised new questions among investigators.

The investigation takes place under judicial secrecyand the responsible court refused to comment on the case. Sources close to the investigation admit that, despite the suspicions and inconsistencies in the statements, there is no direct evidence that support a formal accusation.
