The 43North Startup Competition in Buffalo, New York, once again awarded five outstanding companies with $1 million each. This annual event attracts participants from around the world who present their innovative ideas to a panel of judges. The 2025 winners will come from a variety of industries and will relocate their businesses to Buffalo to strengthen the local economy.
Among the winners is New York-based Cellsense, which converts algae and cellulose into compostable beads to eliminate microplastics in the fashion and cosmetics industries. Another company, London-based Cosi Care, has developed medical devices that provide immediate relief from itching and are a safe alternative to scratching. Floe of New Haven offers a smart and environmentally friendly solution for managing ice and snow on roofs.
New York-based RadEmploy uses AI to efficiently connect radiology professionals with large hospital systems, while Miami-based Tukki.ai combines AI and expert support to streamline visa and green card processes. These companies will benefit not only from financial support, but also mentorship, office space and a network of investors.
Since 2014, 43North has invested in 74 companies that have created over 3,000 jobs worldwide and raised more than $1 billion in capital. This initiative is a key driver of the growth of Buffalo’s startup scene and helps establish the city as one of the fastest-growing startup locations in the United States.
