A TEENAGER has died after falling down a slope in front of horrified tourists and his father in a tragic skiing accident in Austria.
The 14-year-old schoolboy is believed to have gone off-piste before falling several meters onto a pile of loose rocks in the Feuerkogel ski resort.
The father and son were part of a group of 20 tourists from the Czech Republic.
They skied the Gruber Familie slope, a blue run usually used by beginners.
The tragedy took place on Monday around 10:00 in Ebensee in Upper Austria.
Although the boy was wearing a helmet, it reportedly broke when he fell over a pile of rocks, local police told the Krone newspaper.

According to Bild, there was reportedly a lack of snow on the mountainside due to the weather, which would have cushioned the boy’s fall.
Rescuers went to the scene of the accident and tried to resuscitate the boy for about an hour.
Despite their efforts, the tragic schoolboy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The father of the victim is said to have driven from the Alps to the Czech Republic after the tragic ordeal to inform the boy’s mother of his tragic death.
The local police have launched an investigation into the accident to find out the full circumstances of the boy’s fall.
It comes after an Irish teenager allegedly went on the run after being involved in a “high-speed” skiing accident that killed a 49-year-old man.
The tragedy happened on Saturday on a popular slope in Schmittenhöhe, Austria, and the police started a search for the teenager.
The youth reportedly signed up on Sunday and is a 14-year-old from Ireland.
The accident happened around 15:00 on the Hirschkogel slope.
The 49-year-old man and the young man probably collided at high speed.
Unfortunately, nothing could be done to save the man after the accident.
Despite all the efforts of the rescuers, he died on the spot.
He is said to have been urged to run away by a blonde who was believed to be his mother.
The youth spoke English and had injuries on his inner thigh, witnesses added.
