In this column, on our radio shows, on our website, on our social media pages, and in other media outlets, we regularly encourage you to help our Hispanic Federation so we can help the Latino community. One way to do this is through donations. It is not the only one, because our doors are open to volunteers and many other forms of collaboration. But every contribution in dollars – or cents – is important. Since the beginning of this month, there is a new way to donate to our federation: using the company’s services Lyft. one of the first ride-sharing communities in the country.

The users of Lyft You can contribute to our causes by “rounding up” the cost of the trip in cents. And that can be easily done from that company’s app on your phones. It’s fast, it’s very inexpensive, but, above all, it’s very useful.

“The passenger can schedule these donations by opening their profile in the app of Lyftin the tab that says You“explains Brent Wilkes, Senior Vice President of Institutional Development at the Hispanic Federation. “One of the last options on that list is Donatewhich appears next to a heart. And if the passenger opens that tab they will see a series of charities. Among them, our Hispanic Federation. If you choose it, Lyft will round up the cost of each trip fare to the next dollar for the benefit of our organization, our causes and our work.”

Since 2017, when Lyft launched this program Round Up & Donatevarious non-profit organizations have received more than $42 million, so we are very hopeful that the people who use Lyft and they know all the good things the Hispanic Federation does to join this campaign.

Our relationship with Lyft It’s not new. Last year, our federation partnered with that company to help Latinas and Latinos go to the voting sites. Even in cities where voting is close to home and where there are good public transportation systems, such as New York, going to vote can present difficulties, especially for the elderly, for those with physical disabilities and for those who, for various reasons, have to go to the polls with their children. Hence the importance of this collaboration with Lyft.

Round Up & Donate deepens and prolongs that collaboration, and offers all users of Lyft the opportunity to be part of all our efforts for the Latino community. So I encourage you to schedule that app on your phones and start collaborating now. Think that penny by penny we can raise millions.

I take this opportunity to remind you that on the occasion of Hispanic Heritage Month, until October 15, our federation can also raise funds and receive your donations thanks to the New York store Macy´seither by contributing in person at that store’s premises, or through their website.

On behalf of our community, thank you Lyftthanks to Macy’sand thanks to all the donors.
