From this platform – and as many times as necessary – we will not fail to point out the damage that the Republican federal government is inflicting on migrant families. We need to amplify our message so that it is evident in every corner of the United States that the MAGA leader’s guidelines have done nothing other than destroy the American dream of those who only came in search of a future.

Recent cases such as the deportation of a 7-year-old Ecuadorian girl in New York, and the arrest of a Chilean high school student while walking his pet in Van Nuys, California, should not go unnoticed. We cannot get used to these types of actions being part of the routine of federal agencies, which are supposed to be looking for criminals in an irregular situation in the United States.

It is clear that the problem for President Donald Trump is that after having set up a large-scale deportation machinery, he is pressuring federal agents to look under the rocks for the “invaders, murderers and rapists” that he promised to expel. However, when he comes across the truth that there are no such number of “bad men” he devastates anyone regardless of whether they are minors.

At a time when several states have already started the new school year and with others about to begin, this heartbreaking news of innocent children who are not saved from the strong arm of ‘La Migra’ only increases the anxiety of families who choose to stay with their children in the shadows, to the point of sacrificing going to school.

What is the point of calls from state school authorities to migrant parents to send their children to classes if there are not sufficient guarantees. In Los Angeles, for example, on August 14, during the first day of the 2025-2026 school year, immigration raids were reported near four educational centers.

As activists and elected officials have expressed, what is happening is only leaving a shameful stain on the country’s history. The fact that an ICE agent trumpets that he will receive a $1,500 dollar bonus for arresting a young man – who already had plans to finish his last year of high school – should make us reflect on how far we are falling as a society. Are we losing our humanity?

Immigration courts, school grounds, job search corners, and bus stops should not be places where immigrants are hunted. This government is expelling people without a criminal record. What threat could a 7-year-old minor who was getting ready to return to her school in New York represent for the country? None.

But Donald Trump doesn’t care about that. He only thinks about keeping his fan base happy, at the expense of the suffering of hundreds of families.
