New York is the third most complaining state in the United States. This was revealed by a recent study carried out by QR Code Generatorwhich analyzed Americans’ search habits in relation to customer service from the country’s leading companies.

The report determined which states have the most people searching for customer service by calculating the average number of monthly searches per 100,000 residents. To do this, 838 terms related to customer service were taken into account, including phrases such as “Amazon customer service”, “Verizon customer service” or “AT&T customer service”.

New Yorkers, among the country’s biggest complainers

According to the study, New York ranks third nationally in the number of searches related to customer service. State residents conducted an average of 12,713 searches per 100,000 residents each month, a figure 39.4% higher than the national average, which is 9,122.

In total, the state recorded 2.49 million monthly searches, confirming that New Yorkers are especially active when it comes to contacting companies to resolve problems or express disagreements.

The 3 most popular queries during the last year were “Amazon customer service”, with 110,917 monthly searches; “Spectrum customer service”, con 92,125; y “customer service Verizon”, with 86,375. These figures reflect the main companies with which consumers in the state had problems or needed direct attention.

Georgia leads national complaints

First place on the list of “America’s Biggest Complainers.” corresponds to Georgia, whose inhabitants carried out 14,116 searches per 100,000 people each month, which represents 54.8% more than the national average. In total, the state added around 1.56 million monthly searches related to customer service.

The most searched term in Georgia was “call Xfinity customer service,” with an average of 68,625 monthly searches, followed by “Amazon customer service” and “AT&T customer service.”

Florida, second on the list

In second place is Florida, where residents performed 12,952 monthly searches per 100,000 people, that is, 42% more than the national average. The monthly total in the state was 2.93 million queries related to customer service.

Floridians most frequently searched for “Spectrum customer service” (123,833 times per month), “Amazon customer service” (102,167) and “Amazon customer service telephone number” (95,875), showing a clear preference for contacting digital services and telecommunications companies.

The other states most likely to complain

In fourth place was New Jersey, with 11,499 searches per 100,000 residents, which is 26.1% more than the national average. They performed 1.07 million monthly searches, with “Amazon customer service” being the most common query, with 45,883 searches.

Maryland ranked fifth, with 11,416 searches per 100,000 inhabitants. In total, 705,536 monthly searches were registered. The main query in this state was also “Amazon customer service”, with 28,875 searches per month.

The study ranked Delaware sixth, with 10,973 monthly searches per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by North Carolina (10,842), Nevada (10,553), South Carolina (10,230) and Virginia (10,166), which completed the top 10.

In most of these states, The most frequent queries were related to telecommunications companies, such as Xfinity, Spectrum or Verizon, as well as e-commerce giants such as Amazon and AT&T.

Most popular customer service searches in the US

The study also revealed What are the 5 most searched terms in the entire country when it comes to contacting customer service.

The first place is occupied by “Amazon customer service”, with a national average of 1.26 million monthly searches. This was also the most searched term in 11 states, including California, New York and Pennsylvania.

The executive also highlighted that many of the most searched terms include expressions such as ‘call’ or ‘telephone number’, which shows that consumers value direct contact. “A human being can better understand emotions and resolve complex queries that a chatbot cannot address,” he concluded.
