La Libertad Avanza (LLA), the party of the Argentine president, Javier Mileywon the legislative elections this Sunday with the 39% of the voteswhile the Peronist Fuerza Patria and its allies obtained 29.4%, according to official data.
With the 95.6% of votes countedLLA won in the most important provinces and territories of Argentina, such as the city of Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Santa Fe and Mendoza, and obtained a unexpected victory in the province of Buenos Aireswhere it had been crushed by Peronism in the provincial elections last September.
With these numbers, the ruling party is on its way to achieving the objective of one third of the Lower House drawn up by the Government itself in order to carry out its reform projects and counteract the opposition’s attempts to block presidential decrees.
In the Senate, La Libertad Avanza triumphed in six of the eight districts who renewed seats in the Upper House. However, it will still not have the necessary third to be able to defend its laws linked to the adjustment plan and veto reforms promoted by the opposition.
In third place was United Provincesan alliance of governors, with the 5.8% of the votes.
The participation in this election was 67.85%, the lowest since the return of democracy in Argentina, in 1983.
The Argentine president, Javier Milei, celebrated this Sunday the triumph of La Libertad Avanza (LLA) and considered that the Government passed “the hinge point” and “the construction of the great Argentina will now begin“.
