The 14-year-old young man suspected of having killed his mother, the councilor of the Chamber of Vagos, Susana Gravato, will remain in a closed regime, the Family and Minors Court of Aveiro decreed, according to the CNN Portugal.
The measure, of a preventive nature, will initially last for three months, after which it will be reevaluated and may be changed depending on the evolution of the case.
The minor was present in court this Wednesday on suspicion of committing the crime of qualified homicide.
According to the investigation carried out by the Aveiro Judicial Police, the teenager allegedly hit his mother in the back with shots from a firearm that belonged to his father. Susana Gravato succumbed to her injuries and died at the scene.
The Vagos Fire Commander stated on Tuesday that the alert, via 112, was given at 3:08 pm “for a victim in cardiorespiratory arrest”. “Upon our arrival, we came across the victim’s husband maneuvering [de reanimação] and we continued until the arrival of the medical vehicle, which declared death on the spot”, said José Santos.
