A student of 13-year-old died and at least eight people were injured This Monday when a 15-year-old student started a shooting at a school in Argentina, authorities reported.
The unusual episode that shocks a country unaccustomed to school shootings occurred at the Mariano Moreno school in the city of San Cristóbal, a town of 16,000 inhabitants in the province of Santa Fe (center).

“I went up and when I was just going to go down some students saw that a boy came out of the bathroom with a gun and they started screaming. And he started shooting into the air and we all ran away”said a student from the school, identified as Priscila, in an interview with the local radio station Radio Con Vos.
It’s a “very, very sad and very shocking moment. So we want to accompany first of all the family of Ian, of the boy, who lost his life today”Pablo Cococcioni, Minister of Justice and Security of the province, said in a press conference hours after the incident, referring to the victim by name.
The aggressor is detained, a source from the provincial Ministry of Security confirmed to AFP.
“He has no history, we had no intervention throughout his entire school career,” Cococcioni said of him. “He was going through a very complex intra-family situation in the private sphere,” he added.
“What we have proven so far is that it was not an intra-school conflict,” he continued.
