A 37-year-old Portuguese woman was found dead on Monday in her home in Merville, a town north of Toulouse, in the south of France.
The news was released this Wednesday, April 1, by online edition of the French newspaper Acturevealing that the husband, also of Portuguese nationality, was detained by the authorities, as he was suspected of involvement in the death of his wife, who had become a mother two months ago.
The circumstances of the death are not yet known, and the body was discovered by the husband himself, who was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and murder, according to public prosecutor David Charmatz, who confirmed that a complaint had been filed with the police at the end of last week, precisely, for domestic violence.
The only certainty is that, according to Actu, neighbors heard noises coming from the couple’s apartment on Sunday night, and it is not known whether she was murdered at that time.
The result of the autopsy is not yet known, but it will be essential to know whether it was a crime or a sudden death.
What is certain is that while there are no results from the investigation, the two-month-old child was handed over to French social services.
