A delegation from the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) meets with Egyptian officials in Cairo, as part of consultations related to the Palestinian dialogue that Egypt intends to host, which aims to discuss the future of Gaza after the war.

Agence France-Presse quoted an informed source as saying that the delegation will hold meetings with senior Egyptian officials during the next two days to discuss arrangements for the dialogue that aims to unify the Palestinian ranks and discuss major issues, including the management of the Gaza Strip during the next stage.

He added that the upcoming dialogue will also address the formation of a committee of independent competencies to take over the management of the sector’s affairs, stressing that the Hamas movement “pledged to the mediators to enable the independent competencies committee to perform its tasks.”

The informed source indicated that the Hamas delegation will meet with Egyptian and Qatari officials on Monday to discuss “repeated Israeli violations, especially dozens of raids that resulted in the death of dozens of martyrs in the Gaza Strip yesterday.”

He explained that the discussions will also include the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, the opening of the Rafah border crossing, and increasing humanitarian aid to Gaza in accordance with the agreement, which stipulates the entry of 400 trucks daily, in addition to completing Israeli withdrawals from the Strip.

The ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip entered into force on October 10, under pressure from US President Donald Trump, based on a 20-item plan he put forward after a devastating two-year war.

Trump’s plan stipulates a ceasefire, mutual release of prisoners, and a gradual withdrawal of the occupation forces from several areas in the Strip, followed by the handing over of Gaza’s administration to an independent technocratic committee working under the supervision of a “peace council” headed by Trump.

The Hamas movement confirmed that it does not intend to participate in governing the Gaza Strip during the transitional phase, but stressed the need to “examine the future of Gaza within a broad national consensus.”

Hazem Qassem, the movement’s spokesman, said in statements to Agence France-Presse yesterday, Sunday, that Hamas is conducting contacts with the Palestinian Authority and other factions in order to “crystallize a unified national position to overcome thorny issues and reach understandings on the main issues.”

The Hamas delegation arrived in Cairo on Sunday, the same day that Israel launched raids on the Gaza Strip, accusing the movement of violating the ceasefire, which Hamas denied.

The Civil Defense in Gaza said that the Israeli raids claimed the lives of 45 Palestinians, while the Israeli army announced the killing of two soldiers in clashes in the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

In Washington, US President Donald Trump confirmed on Sunday evening that the truce in Gaza was still holding, despite the recent escalation, explaining that Israel had halted its air operations hours after the bombing “as part of reimplementing the agreement.”
