José Luis Ábalos will appear before the Supreme Court tomorrow and will ask to be assisted by a court-appointed lawyer. The former socialist minister has announced on his official X account that his “will” is to attend the summons as an investigator to explain the cash payments he received from the PSOE but that having renounced his lawyer, Jose Aníbalwill have to be assisted ex officio “as long as a new lawyer is not appointed.”

It is worth remembering that Ábalos yesterday presented a brief before the High Court in which he informed the judge Leopoldo Puente that he had made the decision to dispense with the lawyer Aníbal due to “irreducible differences.” Something that, he added, “far from constituting a specific circumstance in time has become a constant,” added the deputy. In such a way that he maintains that this circumstance “makes the maintenance of legal assistance unfeasible, since there has been an irreversible deterioration of what should be a relationship based on trust.”

“The consequence is that, after different episodes of disagreement, accompanied by the atmosphere generated in the context of the media, the relationship between us has been interrupted.” “To the point that the signatory,” Ábalos added, “has to prepare his statement on his own.”

During the last few months, the former Secretary of Organization of the PSOE has sought advice from several lawyers when advising his defense to reach an agreement of agreement and renounce the record. Finally, he has rejected this defense strategy and has chosen to defend his innocence and maintain his status as a member of Congress.
