In the presidential morning conference this Wednesday, Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, head of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation, reported that access has been restored to about 70% of the communities that had been cut off after the intense rains and floods that affected five states of the Republic.
“In total, the localities already communicated are 195 out of 288. This represents close to 70% of communities that already have passage”the official detailed during the report on progress in responding to the emergency.
In areas where land connection has not yet been reestablished, air bridges continue to operate to transport supplies and relief personnel.
Regarding the restoration of electrical service, Esteva Medina pointed out that Hidalgo already has 97.64% coverage, while Puebla, Querétaro and San Luis Potosí report full service.
In Veracruz, progress reaches 99.93%, which is equivalent to 99.38% of communities with electricity.
Regarding educational infrastructure, 979 of the 1,351 affected schools have been attended to, which represents an advance of 72 percent.
Likewise, it was reported that 85,221 homes have been censused, with more than 14,000 new registrations yesterday alone.
In terms of humanitarian support, 273,448 food items have been delivered, of which 31,000 were distributed in the last 24 hours.
In the health sector, the application of 168,610 vaccines was reported, with 23,800 doses applied during the most recent day.
Finally, the secretary highlighted that 52,805 people – including personnel from federal, state and municipal agencies – are currently participating in care and reconstruction efforts.
