Mexico City. – Of the 128 legislators that make up the Senate, there are 30 who They do not have bachelor’s level studiesalthough in their functions they must analyze, propose or repeal laws for the benefit of citizens. In addition to this figure, there are 17 senators who, in the information they reported to the Upper House, indicated that they had a higher rank than the real one.
Through a review of the profiles of each of the senators, the RNational Registry of Professionals (RNP) of the Ministry of Public Education, confirmed these findings. Because Morena is the dominant group, it also has a high number of senators, amounting to 22, who do not have higher education. In this order, there are three senators without education in the PAN, two in the PT, and one each in the PRI, PVEM and Movimiento Ciudadano (MC).
Morena has 67 senators where six, according to the RNP, have a lower educational level than reported in the Legislative Information System (SIL). Among the 22, there were three who openly acknowledged that they did not have higher education and Raquel Bonilla from Veracruz, was the only one who entered the position without studies and now has a degree in law from the Huasteca University of Veracruz.
Senators Imelda Castro, María Guadalupe Chavira, Homero Davis, Sasil de León, Verónica del Carmen Díaz, José Ramón Gómez, Cecilia Guadiana, José Sabino Herrera, Enrique Inzunza, Miguel Pavel Jarero, Ignacio Mier, Antonino Morales, Ana Lilia Rivera, Karina Isabel Ruiz, Araceli Saucedo, Jesús Lucía Trasviña and Lorenia Iveth Valles, are the ones that the RNP does not indicate that there is a professional license in their name.
Among the 21 PAN senators, two have a lower educational level than reported. A legislator admits that she does not have studies, in addition to Gustavo Sánchez Vázquez and Lilly Téllez who do not have an ID that proves their higher education. In the PT bench made up of six senators, three do not accredit the reported academic degree. Alejandro González and Lizeth Sánchez are those who lack higher education.
PVEM, which has 14 senators, three indicated that they had a lower degree of education than reported to the SIL and Virgilio Mendoza acknowledged not having completed a bachelor’s degree. In the PRI with its 13 senators, two do not accredit the reported academic degree and Ángel García indicated that he has a truncated career in Educational Sciences. While, in the bench of six MC senators, one indicated a level of education without having the ID and Néstor Camarillo was the only one without proving his studies in law with an ID.
