The Civil Police reported this Monday, March 30, that they located a two-month-old baby who had been missing for ten days, after the mother failed to appear at an official social support establishment.
In an operation conducted by the Santarém National Counter Terrorism Unit, the child was found with his mother last Friday, in Nazaré.
According to a statement from the PJ, the newborn was “at risk” given the “identification of negligent behavior on the part of the mother, namely, the inability to provide basic care, such as hygiene, food and clothing and, also, the existence of aggressive reactions”. This assessment had even led to the baby being removed from the mother and sent to an institution at Santa Casa da Misericórdia.
The child is “now safe”, under the supervision of the Family and Minors Court of Santarém, “aiming to guarantee his safety, well-being and physical integrity”.
