Everything is the same on the Championship front. Neither Benfica nor FC Porto took advantage of Sporting’s draw this Saturday and the points difference remains the same between the top 3, after the two-goal draw at Estádio da Luz.
Benfica started better, but the Porto players ended up being more effective and retired to the dressing rooms with a comfortable 2-0 lead. The first half was marked by intensity and interruptions.
The match started with a corner for Benfica and with the Reds carrying out the first attack of the match. However, the game was soon interrupted due to smoke caused by torches and fireworks launched by fans in the stands, a situation that made visibility difficult and required a brief stop.
Despite the home team’s more offensive entry, it was Porto who scored in the 10th minute. Alan Varela launched Froholdt deep and the Danish midfielder shot in the first phase for Trubin to save. The ball, however, fell again to Froholdt himself who, on the rebound, didn’t waste it and put the dragons ahead.
