Brazilian diplomacy in Lisbon bets on culture

Brazilian diplomacy in Portugal recently launched two new initiatives focused on culture. The Consulate General of Brazil in Lisbon created a book club, while the Embassy will promote storytelling sessions for children.

The club, called “Literary Afternoons”, takes place in partnership with the project Afeto Literário, by Brazilian Patricia Cerutti. The first edition took place last week. The meetings will be monthly, at the consulate headquarters, which has now opened its doors to cultural and literary activities.

At the inaugural event, books were presented Matthewof Natália Alvese Beyond Autismof Geraldo Peçanha de Almeida. Registration for participation, with limited places, will be published monthly. Participation is free.

Children’s story telling is an initiative of Brazilian Embassy in Lisbon and starts on Saturday, March 21at the Saudade bookstore. The name of the children’s project is “Whoever tells a story expands the points”.

The premiere will feature the accountant Benita Prieto and will have as its theme “Brazilian folk tales”. Benita is an actress, writer and storyteller, highlighted in projects to promote reading in Brazil and Portugal. The event will be held monthly, always on the third Saturday of each month.

According to the embassy, ​​“The initiative seeks to bring children closer to the world of literature through oral storytelling, stimulating imagination and interaction around books.” The sessions will present narratives inspired “by Brazilian literary works and traditions, in addition to putting children in contact with the Portuguese language spoken in the country”. Participation is recommended for children up to 12 years of age and their families. Entry is free.
