Brazilian-Palestinian Documentary ‘Notes About an Exile’ Screening at DOC.Coimbra

The award-winning documentary “Notas Sobre um Desterro”, by Brazilian director Gustavo Castro, will be shown this Wednesday (18), during the DOC.Coimbra program, in the Auditorium of the Teatro Académico de Gil Vicente (TAGV). Co-production between Brazil and Palestine, the film revisits images filmed in the West Bank in 2018 to reflect on events after October 7, 2023. The session is scheduled for 6:30 pm.

The film begins with the meeting of a Brazilian-Palestinian family in the West Bank, originally intended as a record of the possibilities of coexistence in an occupied land. With the recent developments in the conflict, the work takes on another shape, becoming a reflection on colonization, apartheid, genocide and the proliferation of images of war produced by the victims themselves.
