The second edition of the “Integrar para o Turismo” program registered a total of 376 people registered, of which 160 are Brazilian nationality, which corresponds to 43% of the total. The data was sent to DN / DN Brazil by Turismo de Portugal, the entity responsible for the program in partnership with the Government.
Bangladesh (31) and Pakistan (28) complete the ranking of the three nationalities with the highest number of people interested in the training opportunity. Also included in the top ten are Nepal (27), Angola (7%), Nigeria (18), India (9), Guinea-Bissau (6), Ukraine (6) and Afghanistan (4).
There are also applicants from Colombia and Iran, in addition to 53 candidates with an unknown nationality. Registration closed on September 12th, with a number significantly lower than the first edition — at the time, more than five thousand people applied for the program, which offered 1,299 vacancies.
This second class was created due to the great interest shown in the first edition. As previously, participants will be selected to undertake training in tourism schools of the country and, later, will participate in a internship. The schedule has not yet been released. Last week, the participants of the first edition of “Integrar para o Turismo” graduated, with the delivery of diplomas.
The objective of the program is to train immigrants in areas such as cooking, service and hotel functions, facilitating entry into the job market. During training, students receive a scholarship and an internship, with the possibility of employment after completing the course.
