Brisa Group becomes sole shareholder of Via Verde after total purchase

The Brisa group acquired the rest of Via Verde from Ascendi and became the company’s sole shareholder, the transport infrastructure operator reported this Friday, 6th.

“Following the agreement reached between the Brisa Group and Ascendi regarding the acquisition by Brisa Autoestradas de Portugal of Ascendi’s stake in Via Verde, the Brisa Group began to hold, on March 5, 2026, the entire share capital of Via Verde, becoming its sole shareholder”, reads a statement.

In March 2025, Brisa notified the Competition Authority (AdC) of the purchase of the 25% that the Ascendi group held in Via Verde.

The statement sent by Brisa reads that “the agreement, which also involved the indirect acquisition of the entire share capital of Via Verde Pay, an entity regulated by the Bank of Portugal (BdP), was subject to approval by the Competition Authority and the BdP”.

Brisa had already purchased SIBS’s stake in the company, in 2021, with only Ascendi remaining in its position to completely control Via Verde.
