President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo avoided confirming the capture in Cuba of Zhi Dong Zhang, better known as “Brother Wang”, operator of Chinese origin linked to the Nueva Generación Cartel, who last July escaped from the house arrest to which he was subject in Mexico City.

During her morning conference, the President was questioned about whether the Security Cabinet had informed her of the arrest of the so-called “Brother Wang”, considered one of the main suppliers of fentanyl for the Sinaloa and Nueva Generación cartels.
“Yes, let the Secretary of Security (Omar García Harfuch) also report on this case,” Sheinbaum responded.

“Let the Secretary of Security report,” the President reiterated.
Sources from the federal security cabinet confirmed that Zhi Dong Zhang was detained in Cuba, three months after his escape.

The alleged operator was originally detained in Mexico as part of an extradition process to the United States. where he faces accusations of trafficking in chemical precursors used to make fentanyl.
However, last July he escaped from his home in Tlalpanwhere he was serving preventive house arrest, after disabling his electronic bracelet and escaping through a tunnel that connected his house with an adjoining property.
