The Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, denounced this Tuesday that the deployment of Israeli troops against Hezbollah’s objectives in Lebanon constitutes an “illegal invasion” that violates its “integrity and sovereignty.”
“The government of Lebanon has banned Hezbollah, is acting, is trying to act against Hezbollah, and its terrorist activities and its threats to Israel, and this is the justification for the invasion,” Carney told reporters at an event in Wakefield, Quebec.

Carney’s statements are in the same direction as those of European leaders and senior officials of the United Nations (UN).

UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher expressed concern on Tuesday about the possible creation of a new “occupied territory” in the Middle East, this time in Lebanon.
Ten European countries and the European Union also asked for guarantees for the “security” of the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon, three of whose soldiers have died in recent days.
Lebanon was involved in the war between Israel and the United States, on the one hand, and Iran, on the other, after an attack carried out on March 2 by the Islamist movement Hezbollah against Israel in retaliation for the death of the Iranian supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, on the first day of the war.
Since then, Israeli attacks in Lebanon have killed more than 1,200 people and injured more than 3,600, according to the latest figures from the local Health Ministry. The Israeli army claims to have eliminated “850 terrorists”.
