Carlos Cabreiro is the new national director of the Judiciary Police, succeeding Luís Neves, who since February 23 has served as Minister of Internal Administration.

The announcement was made by the Government, which chose the director of the National Unit to Combat Cybercrime and Technological Crime (UNC3T), a role he had performed for ten years.

Cabreiro, 59 years old, has a degree in Law and arrived at the PJ as a trainee inspector in 1991. He has always been linked to computer crime, having become deputy director of the former central directorate for the investigation of economic and financial crime.

Among the most publicized investigations, he led the operation that led to the capture of hacker Rui Pinto, who entered the servers of clubs, companies and justice officials.
