Carneiro Reaffirms Vitality of the PS with 50 Motions in the National Congress

At the opening of the 25th PS National Congress, at the Multipurpose Pavilion in Viseu, this Friday (27), José Luís Carneiro left a message abroad, referring to all socialists: “We are alive.”

To justify the observation, the socialist leader mentioned the “50 sectoral motions presented” that will be discussed over the weekend, including the motion entitled Socialism with a Future, which leaves the demand that the party distance itself from the Government and assume itself as an alternative.

Previously, Carneiro assumed that he took over the leadership of the PS at a “difficult time”, in which “many were questioning” the “future” and determined that the PS would enter “in decline”.

“Today we can calmly say that the Socialist Party responded with unity, with responsibility and with work. And it is from this unity that the hope that I bring here to you that we will be is born”, he assured, adding that his “objectives were regain the trust of Portuguese men and women and unite the party”, considered, before leaving the idea that “a party that wants to govern the country must start by knowing how to unite with itself”.
