He Government of Mexico City will send to CDMX Congress a package of reform initiatives to promote sports, as well as the creation of greater public infrastructure so that residents of the capital can exercise for free, this as part of the actions to receive the World Cup 2026announced the local leader, Clara Brugada.

During a ceremony where she gave recognition to Olympic athletes of various years, the head of Government assured that they will create all the preparatory work for next year’s international sports fair.

“Because we want to host the World Cup, and we say it with values: we want fair play with a fair society. And we want the World Cup to be experienced with values. But you, more than anyone, are the example of promoting values,” he said.

The Head of Government took the opportunity to announce that she has already prepared an agenda of legislative reforms, which she will send to legislators, whose purpose is to promote and strengthen sporting activity.

“We want to promote sport with values ​​and soon we are going to announce some initiatives, we are going to send legislative reforms and continue promoting the population to exercise,” he indicated.

Brugada stated that in the capital, sports infrastructure and spaces are being built where the population can develop for free, to promote the development of new talents.

More swimming pools are built, so that the population can develop, free of charge; there will be more sports fields which will be new; athletics tracks, gyms, squash, spaces for different sports disciplines, boxing rings, among others, he said.

‘We are ready and prepared to receive the 2026 World Cup’

He recalled that next year, there will be an important event, “for the third time we will be the only city that has hosted the inaugural Soccer World Cup three times and we are going to have it in this city. And we are ready and prepared to host this great event.”

Works are being carried out, he recalled, that will remain forever in the country’s capital, they will serve to have the best mobility and security, but the most important thing is to experience the 2026 World Cup in Mexico City, playing sports.

“Not just spectators, but doing sports. Therefore, we are committed to construction and we are enabling 500 fields that were abandoned, or that deserved great attention,” he clarified.
