He National Weather Service (SMN) reported that cold front number 10 and other atmospheric systems will cause intense rains, a drop in temperatures and gusts of wind in different regions of the country during the next few days.
The states most affected by the rains will be Veracruz, Tabasco, Oaxaca and Chiapaswhere heavy to very heavy rainfall (50 to 75 millimeters) is expected, accompanied by electric shocks, hail and increases in rivers and streams.
A trough in the Gulf of Mexico, a low pressure channel and tropical wave number 39 will favor the entry of humidity to the east and southeast of the country. In addition to the rains, wind gusts of up to 70 km/h are expected in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and high waves, mainly on the coasts of Oaxaca, Chiapas and Veracruz.
Effects of cold front 10
Cold front number 10 will approach the northern border of the country between Thursday and Fridaygenerating a drop in temperature, strong winds and possible whirlwinds in Chihuahua and Coahuila. In the northwest, the subtropical jet stream will also cause showers in Sonora and Chihuahua.
- Southeast: Heavy to very heavy rains in Veracruz, Tabasco, Oaxaca and Chiapas; showers in Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo.
- Northwest and north: Showers and gusts of wind in Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila and Nuevo León.
- West and center: Moderate rains in Michoacán, Jalisco, Colima, Guerrero, Puebla and the State of Mexico.
- Altiplano and north-center: Low probability of rain, although cold temperatures are expected in the mountain areas of Durango, Chihuahua, Zacatecas and Hidalgo, with minimum temperatures of up to -5 °C.
Maximum temperatures will remain between 30 and 40 °C in entities on the Pacific coast and the Yucatán Peninsula.
The authorities urged the population to stay informed and take extreme precautions against possible landslides, floods and falling trees or announcements due to gusts of wind.
The SMN will continue to monitor the evolution of cold front number 10 and tropical wave 39which will maintain unstable conditions until next Sunday, October 26.
