The Consumer Price Index (CPI) fell 1% in September, following a 0.4% increase in August.
This The decline is attributed to a sharp slowdown in service prices, which fell 1.9%, and in “other services”which include accommodation and transport, which recorded a drop of 13.5%.
“The decline in food prices was 0.2%, while manufactured products slowed down, remaining stable for tobacco”, highlights the French statistical institute (INSEE).
However, after analyzing the data in year-on-year terms, the IPC grew 1.2% compared to 2024as revealed by INSEE, after a rate of 0.9% in August.
This increase is mainly attributed to the acceleration in prices for services, which rose 2.4%, compared to 2.1% in the previous month.
“It is explained by the acceleration of prices in services and a slight decline in energy prices, which fell 4.4%”, highlights INSEE. Food prices also showed a slight increase, rising 1.7%, while tobacco prices increased 4.1%.
