There is no doubt that Cristiano Ronaldo has secured his name in the biggest pages of football history.
Considered one of the most complete players the sport has ever seen, the Portuguese is full of titles and distinctions that many footballers would have liked to have.
Now 40 years old, Cristiano glimpses his goodbye from the fields, but he is pursuing one more feat, to continue increasing his legend as the greatest net breaker in history.
On August 2, 2002, Sporting Lisbon faced Real Betis in a friendly duel and among the ranks of the Portuguese team was a young Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo was the protagonist when he scored Sporting’s third goal with a ‘vaseline’ for the 3-2 victory over the green and white, however, the commentators did not know his name and called him ‘Custodian’.
“Laszlo Boloni (Sporting coach) called me up for a friendly against Betis. I was 17 years old and had a lot of dreams. Then the ball came to me and I scored. From anonymity I became the cover,” Ronaldo recalled.
On Matchday 6 of the 2002-03 Primeira Liga, Cristiano Ronaldo would score his first two goals in the professional field.
At minutes 34 and 90, Ronaldo scored a double in the 3-0 win that Sporting Lisbon conceded to Moreirense at home.
These are the goals broken down by club and country that Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved in his career:
Sporting Lisbon: 5
Manchester United: 145
Real Madrid: 450
Juventus: 101
Al-Nassr: 106
Portuguese National Team: 143
Total: 950
Cristiano Ronaldo had to wait until the 88th minute to score the 950th goal of his career when he finished with a lob from his left foot after Wesley’s assist to give Al-Nassr a 2-0 lead on their visit to Al-Hazm.
How much does Cristiano Ronaldo need to reach 1,000 goals?
He’s missing 50.
