Cristiano Ronaldo’s layoff time could last up to four weeks, due to a muscle injury to the back of his right thigh, contracted by Al Nassr. The situation raises doubts regarding the presence of the national team captain in Portugal’s upcoming friendlies, against Mexico, on March 28th, and the United States, on the 31st. as recovery may coincide with this period.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Portuguese striker could be out for between two and four weeks, depending on clinical evolution and the results of new tests which should be carried out in the coming days.
The injury occurred during the match between Al Nassr and Al Fayha, in the 24th round of the Saudi league. Cristiano Ronaldo left the pitch in the 81st minute, with complaints in his right leg, in a game that ended in a 3-1 victory for the team coached by Jorge Jesus.
Nonetheless, Al Nassr confirmed, through a statement released on social media, that the player was diagnosed with a muscle injury in his thigh. The Riyadh club also said that The Portuguese international has already started a rehabilitation program and his physical condition will be monitored daily by the medical team.
In his first reaction after the match, Jorge Jesus had downplayed the striker’s physical problem, saying it was just wear and tear. However, tests carried out subsequently confirmed the existence of a muscle injury that will require a recovery period.
