The president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguezdismissed this Wednesday the Venezuelan ambassador to the United Nations Organization (UN)who held the position for almost 10 years.

Samuel Moncada, appointed to the position by Nicolás Maduro, serves as permanent representative of the country to the UN since 2017. According to the president, she will go on to carry out “new international tasks”, although she did not specify her next destination.

Through a message on Telegram, Delcy Rodríguez reported that she appointed Coromoto Godoy in her place, until now Minister of Foreign Trade.
Rodríguez said he trusted “his extensive diplomatic career to consolidate our presence in the United Nations system and defend the interests of the country“.
The Ministry of Foreign Trade will be assumed by the economist Johann Álvarez Márquez, whose management will be “fundamental for the development of a productive and diversified economy“, with the aim of promoting Venezuela’s positioning in international markets, according to the president.
The interim government has already made some 15 changes in the ministerial cabinet since January, among which The departure of Vladimir Padrino from the Defense portfolio stands out and the dismissal of Álex Saab as Minister of Industries, accused of serving as a front man for the deposed president.

Rodríguez, who was the country’s vice president, took power after Maduro’s capture in a US intervention, and has since promoted economic reforms for a greater openness to private capital and promoted an amnesty law.
