This Tuesday, October 14, Israel handed over the bodies of 45 Palestinians who were in the custody of Israeli forces, under the ceasefire agreement with Hamas, announced a hospital in Khan Yunis, in the south of the Gaza Strip.
“The remains of 45 martyrs arrived at the hospital through the Red Cross, after being released,” the Nasser hospital said in a short statement cited by the France-Presse news agency (AFP).
This is the first delivery of bodies by Israel provided for in the agreement between the two parties, by which Hamas must hand over the bodies of more than two dozen hostages who died in captivity in Gaza.
Several Palestinian media outlets reported the delivery of the 45 bodies and published images near the Nasser hospital.
The bodies were handed over by Israel to the Red Cross, which transported them to the Palestinian hospital, according to the Spanish news agency EFE.
The Gaza Ministry of Health had announced hours earlier the availability of Palestinian medical teams to receive the bodies delivered by Israel.
He stated that the delivery would be carried out “in accordance with the medical procedures and protocols adopted in these cases”.
With the ceasefire coming into force on Friday, Hamas released on Monday the 20 Israeli hostages still alive in the Gaza Strip.
