Sporting will file a disciplinary complaint against the president of FC Porto, the two-time national champion announced in a statement sent to the press.

At issue are André Villas-Boas’ words spoken this Tuesday, October 7, during the Portugal Football Globes Gala, promoted by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), which, in the lions’ opinion, “attacks the honor of the president [Frederico Varandas] and the reputation of Sporting SAD”.

Speaking to journalists, Villas-Boas criticized the “coercion” made by the presidents of Benfica and Sporting, which have had a “direct impact on the appointments” of referees.

The Porto president also considered serious the statements made by Frederico Varandas, who on Sunday revealed a mapping of the club preferences of the FPF’s governing bodies carried out by president Pedro Proença, in which Benfica is in the majority.

“I just forwarded it to the [Pedro Proença]I don’t think they should go unpunished. After statements on this topic, I wrote a message to the president of the Federation, because if your motto is to unite football, statements like these cannot go unpunished. Because there cannot be a mapping of the FPF’s governing bodies without all clubs being informed of the same. Or that it is public and not between two people. I find the statements serious. If this meeting happened, if this mapping happened, we all have the right to know who these people are. If you want to unite you have to come forward and, once and for all, reaffirm your authority”, stressed the leader of the dragons.
