Iran responded today to statements by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, that it would be negotiating with Tehran: “Do not call your defeat an agreement. The era of your promises has come to an end”, said the Iranian Army.
In a statement released by the Tasnim agency, linked to the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Khatam al-Anbiya Unified Operations Command spokesman Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaghari insisted that the White House’s statements about negotiations with the Islamic Republic are false.
“Do not call your defeat accordingly. The era of your promises is over. There are two fronts today: the truth and the lie. And no lover of truth allows himself to be seduced by its media waves”, the statement states.
“Have your internal conflicts reached a point where you are negotiating with yourself?” he continued.
The Iranian Army also warned that the price of oil will not return to what it was until the Iranian Armed Forces “guarantee stability in the region.”
“Neither will your investments in the region materialize, nor will you see the same energy and oil prices as before, until you understand that stability in the region is guaranteed by the powerful hand of our armed forces”, adds the text from the Unified Operations Command.
Donald Trump expressed his conviction on Tuesday that Tehran and Washington will “reach an agreement” within the scope of the talks that the North American President claims to be holding with the Islamic Republic, where “a change in the regime” has taken place.
Tehran acknowledged having maintained some indirect contacts with the White House, but categorically rejected any type of negotiation.
Trump also stated that the Iranian representatives with whom Washington is talking “agreed that they will never have a nuclear weapon” and that Tehran gave him a “great gift” related to the Strait of Hormuz, a fundamental trade route for oil, controlled by Iran, and a cornerstone of this conflict.
The Iranian Army declared, however, that, until its “will” is done, no situation will “go back to what it was”: “No one like us will reach an agreement with someone like you”, the spokesman stressed.
