EDP ​​expands in the USA with a 150 MW solar park and partnership with Microsoft

EDP ​​announced that it has completed Pleasantville Solar, a 150 MW photovoltaic farm in Fulton County, Illinois, whose entire production was contracted through a long-term power purchase agreement with Microsoft.

The operation was carried out by the subsidiary EDP Renováveis ​​Norte América (EDPR NA), according to a statement released this Tuesday, 24.

The group highlights that the project will generate enough electricity to meet the annual demand of more than 39,500 homes and businesses, contributing to the stability of the grid and the energy autonomy of the State of Illinois.

In addition to the energy impact, EDP highlights that around 300 temporary jobs were created during construction.

In financial terms, Pleasantville Solar is expected to translate into approximately €27.3 million in revenue to support schools, roads, emergency services and other essential public services.

The company adds that its presence in Illinois already translates into 1.6 GW of gross operating capacity, capable of supplying more than 548 thousand homes annually.

Finally, EDP states that its projects in the State generated a total economic impact of around 1.12 billion euros, including 951 million invested locally, 100.7 million in payments to landowners and 96.2 million in contributions to local governments.
