The Portuguese defense communications company EID will reinforce the Portuguese Navy’s integrated communications system and networks, in a contract until 2031 valued at 42.3 million euros.

The agreement provides for the supply and implementation of “a technological solution that will allow centralized management and control of internal and external communications on board Portuguese Navy ships”.

According to a statement released this Tuesday, 31st, the technology will be installed on naval platforms with “high operational relevance”, including new 3rd series ocean patrol ships and refueling ships.

The agreement is valid between 2026 and 2031 and represents an investment of 42.3 million euros, being financed through the Military Programming Law.

Integrated Communication Systems and Networks (SICC) integrate all communications subsystems and guarantee high levels of automation, efficiency and reliability, as well as full compliance with Nato and European Union (EU) requirements and standards.

Quoted in the document, the general director of EID, Martin Bennet, considered that this partnership is “a very relevant milestone” for the company and “validates the technological robustness” of its solutions.
