Embassy and Consulate promote activities to celebrate Women’s Day in Lisbon

A program that starts this Thursday, March 5th, celebrates Women’s Day, focusing on the Brazilian community in Portugal. “They on the Move” will be a series of events promoted by the Embassy of Brazil in Lisbon, with support from the Consulate General of Brazil in Lisbon, which will also have special activities this month.

“The program reaffirms the commitment of the Brazilian Embassy in Lisbon to promoting Brazilian culture and strengthening the debate on gender equality, expanding spaces for listening, creation and female protagonism in the Portuguese-Brazilian context”, highlights an official note from the embassy.

In the area of ​​culture, there will be special sessions of the play “The Deranged Woman”. Starring the Brazilian Tati Pasquali, the performance takes place at the Teatro Ibérico, from Thursday until Sunday, March 8th. More details here.

On Friday, March 6th, the “Futures” workshop takes place. The event will be at 6pm, at Casa Capitãoled by Thaís Prado, from the Feminist Futures project. The activity proposes reflections on feminist perspectives and the construction of possible futures. Entry is free, but advance registration is required here.

On Saturday, March 7th, Casa Capitão will host another event, from 2pm to 6pm: the conversation circle “Let Her Talk”. The first table, titled “Being a woman: work, care and invisibilities”will be mediated by Stephany Lins, cultural producer and master in Culture and Gender, with the participation of the president of Casa do Brasil, Ana Paula Costa, and Camila Lamartine, doctoral student in Communication Sciences, activist and researcher of contemporary and decolonial feminisms.

The second wheel, “Feminisms, Culture and Possible Futures”will be mediated by Luana Bistane, specialist in Creative Economy and master in Culture and Communication, and will feature the participation of actress Tati Pasquali, Suzana Cohen, PhD in Trends, focusing on technology and its impacts on society and consumption, and Zia Soares, director, actress and artistic director of Teatro GRIOT. Just like Friday’s workshop, the event is free, but requires advance registration.

On Sunday, Women’s Day, Brazilian Camila Masiso performs the show “Voices in Crossing”. The artist performs at 8pm, at Casa Capitão, with free entry, subject to registration via the link.

The Consulate General of Brazil in Lisbon officially inaugurates this month the Women’s Spaceas well as celebrating the first anniversary of Brazilian Women’s Space in Lisbon (EMuB Lisbon). The place “reaffirms its commitment to valuing Brazilian women and expanding spaces for listening and information”.

The consulate also recently launched the campaign online “You have a voice”, with informative videos on social media. O combating violence against women is a goal set by Consul General Alessandro Candeas since he arrived at the post, in October 2024. Since then, several actions have already been carried out.

Another special activity of the consulate this month is the event “Renaissance of Women – Connections, awareness and entrepreneurship across borders”. The program includes topics such as conscious management, emotional health and building support networks. The event is in partnership with Entre Rios magazine.
