A bucket of ice water fell on the Estádio do Dragão with Famalicão snatching a 2-2 draw, in the last play of the game in the 28th round of the I League. FC Porto started the game badly, was losing, turned around in extra time, but then let the triumph slip away and relaunched the fight for the title.
At the moment, the Porto players have five points behind Sporting, who have a game in hand, and eight behind Benfica, who play Casa Pia on Monday.
The match practically starts with a great save by Diogo Costa who denied the goal to Brazilian winger Marcos Sorriso. It was the motto for the difficulties that Famalicão would place on the Dragons, with midfielder Mathias de Amorim in the 24th minute creating another scare with a shot that went a little wide. Shortly after, it was Gustavo Sá, who sent the ball close to the Porto post.
Only in the 31st minute did Francesco Farioli’s team show a sign of life, with Terem Moffi deflecting a beautiful pass from Zaidu, forcing goalkeeper Carevic to save with his chest.
It was the warning for the goal that came in the 35th minute, when Alberto Costa took advantage of a bad clearance from Carevic to shoot at the goal. The Dragon audience sighed in relief.
Even before the break, Diogo Costa once again denied Gustavo Sá the goal.
In the second half, Famalicenses started better again, but this time they managed to equalize through Sorriso, who in the 54th minute took advantage of an incomplete save by Diogo Costa to score with a header.
Nervousness took over after the Dragons, but the goal ended up appearing in the 90+1 minute by Seko Fofana, following an individual play, in which he passed two opponents and shot at the goal.
However, the accounts are not closed, because at 90+10, Rodrigo Pinheiro took advantage of a huge confusion in the Porto area and shot into the back of Diogo Costa’s goal, with the ball still deflecting off the post.
A final of great emotions, which now relaunches the championship, after all Sporting and Benfica can get closer after the calendar is agreed and remain two and five points apart, respectively.
